RIP Guru (Gangstarr) True Story Behind Hospital & Coma

The family of Gang Starr rapper Guru have questioned the validity of a letter he supposedly wrote on his deathbed, in which his supposed last wishes were outlined.

Guru real name Keith Elam, died on April 19 from cancer At the age of 43 born july 17 1966. He had been in a coma since February.

Elam's family released a statement to DJpremierblog.com, the website of his former Gang Starr partner DJ Premier. In it, they stated that Guru was in a coma from mid-February until his death – making it unfeasible that he could have written a letter from his deathbed. Producer Solar made the supposed Guru letter public after his death.

The letter released by Solar stated that DJ Premier should not be allowed to trade under Gang Starr's name in future. In March, Guru's nephew released a video saying Solar had "completely cut us off" [his family] from seeing the rapper.

Referring to Guru's condition before he died in their letter, the family wrote: "Guru suffered from multiple myeloma for over a year. Accrued complications from this illness led to respiratory failure and cardiac arrest. As a result, Guru was in a coma from mid-February until his death and never regained consciousness."

They added: "The Elam family wishes to thank the fans of our son/brother/father/uncle/nephew/cousin Keith, aka Guru, for the outpouring of love, concern and support. Our hearts are broken by the loss of someone we loved so much. Guru was devoted to his young son, who will most keenly feel his absence."

An "all-inclusive memorial event" is being planned for the near future by Guru's family, according to the letter.

SOLAR STATEMENT (GURU's "BESTFRIEND")

from what others are saying solar & guru were gay-lovers, solar basically would control who guru met knew or was family with, he restricted his daily life consistently from family that witness solar beaten on guru several times..brainwashing guru on who not to trust..Wow sounds like a manipulative person who should never been close to guru in the first place.

Theres more to this story than politics as usual...shady business the industry is smfh!

Nicki Minaj interview w/ VIBE MAG about gayness

Q: What can women get away with in hip-hop that men can’t?
A: I have a lot of freedom to be crazy. I can rap in a London accent, make weird faces, wear spandex, wigs, and black lipstick. I can be more creative than the average male rapper. And I can show my boobs. Guys can’t do that.

Q: You sign your fans’ breasts at shows. Do their boyfriends get jealous?
A: If anything, boys are telling me to sign their girls’ boobs. I’ve gone through 15 markers in a single night—because the girls are usually sweating, and a marker will stop writing if the girls are wet.

Q: As an openly bisexual rapper, do you think hip-hop is getting more gay-friendly?
A: I think the world is getting more gay-friendly, so hip-hop is too. But it’s harder to imagine an openly gay male rapper being embraced. People view gay men as having no street credibility. But I think we’ll see one in my lifetime.

Q: Having studied theater in high school, what would you say is the difference between rapping and acting?
A: With me, there really isn’t one. I look at rap as an opportunity to act. My head is full of different characters—in each song I’m auditioning a character.

Q: On Twitter you follow a bunch of Nicki Minaj fan groups. Ever get tired of reading so many tweets about yourself?
A: Hell no! It says a lot that someone took the time to dedicate a page to me. And it’s useful. Anything I do, they post a link to it right away. I don’t need to Google myself.
Q: Have you seen the YouTube video where Michelle Trachtenberg raps one of your verses?
A: She’s the cutest thing. I just wanted to reach into the computer and kiss her. I might have to get her on a track.

Q: Your father set fire to your home when you were a kid in Queens, New York. What happened?
A: He drank a lot and did drugs, and he would get violent when he did. When he set fire to the house, he was attempting to kill my mother. She got out before it burned all the way down. I’ve always had this female-empowerment thing in the back of my mind—because I wanted my mother to be stronger, and she couldn’t be. I thought, “If I’m successful, I can change her life.”

Q: As younger and younger fans come to your shows, do you feel pressure to tone down the racier elements of your persona?
A: I do. I’m a role model now. I didn’t know I was gonna have 13-year-old fans, so I’ve tried to change a few things here and there. But I also know that the girls don’t want me to be Miley Cyrus, either.

Q: Are you going to send your mentor Lil Wayne a gift while he’s in prison?
We were at a Jay-Z concert right before he went away, and he said, Yo, Nick, how come you never bring any bad bitches around with you? I said, My fault. I’ve got you next time! So I’ll send him a poster of a bad bitch to put up in his cell.

hmm to me shes kinda gay but idc its her biz i just want her to myself xD

NO..my mom witness everything btw..but she couldnt identified who was shot. After getting off work on my way home talking on the phone to Alana the misses. She tells me it was my brother/my friend Christian Jeffreys!! i started to ball, while im still on the phone SMFH! as of now he is ok according to doctors,family..Although to me that isnt good enough because he doesnt deserve it!
Chris is a college degree, smart, happy, blue collar workman, about something good-man. Who respects everyone, so why was he shot? He told the girls to lower their voice because his grandparents were sleeping, & his baby brother was being attacked so in his right mind he react to protection..thats something i would had done, In my vision Chris is a real nigga & i pray he gets well..god be with him...

Kids Get Beatings From School Safety Agents (Jamaica Queens)

Students, parents and civil rights activists are demanding a probe of what they call overly aggressive policing at a Queens school, saying safety agents have created a "climate of fear."

Agents at Hillcrest High School in Jamaica have allegedly beaten students, strip-searched them and routinely forced them to line up for at least an hour for security checks, protesters said Monday at the school.

She said Principal Stephen Duch is "complicit" in ongoing problems and has "turned a blind eye" to the aggressive behavior of security agents, who are NYPD employees.

Hillcrest student Rohan Morgan, 16, filed a lawsuit against the city in August after four security agents allegedly handcuffed him and then severely beat him in the dean's office.

"I was scared and didn't know what to think," Morgan said, recounting the incident at the rally.

School has been difficult since then, he said.

"I still have to look over my shoulder," Morgan said, adding that agents "still mess" with him.

City Education Department officials declined to comment on the lawsuit. But spokeswoman Marge Feinberg said such allegations are taken seriously.

NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said the July incident was sparked over a cell phone, which is banned in school. When agents tried to pull Morgan aside after his phone set off the metal detector, Morgan resisted, Browne said.

"The student became irate, and pushed and struck the agent," Browne said. Morgan was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

Trudy Morgan said her son came home with bruises all over his body and suffered a knee injury that required surgery.

"This is not the way they deserve to be treated," she said.

Hillcrest graduate Kumar Heeralall, 21, said he was the victim of a similar assault in 2007.

"They took me in a room, handcuffed me and beat me up," said Heeralall, who did not file a suit. "I thought I was the only one that it happened to."

Hillcrest student Ashley Avery, 16, said other schools don't have such stringent security.

"Not everyone is carrying a pocketknife," she said.

But George Geller, who heads the school's safety agents union, called the claims "outrageous."

"Inevitably, there are going to be allegations from time to time," Geller said. "What you heard here today were irresponsible calls to remove safety agents from schools."
